Halloween Party Playlist
No Halloween party is complete without some themed music! Here is my Halloween playlist!
1. Thriller by Micheal Jackson
2. The Time Warp by The Rocky Horror Picture Show
3. Black Heart by Stooshe
4. Monster Mash by Bobby Picket
5. Ghost by Ella Henderson
6. Lithium by Evanescence
7. Bat Out Of Hell by Meatloaf
8. Ghostbuster's Theme Song
9. Highway To Hell by AC/DC
10. The 6th Gate (Dance With The Devil) by D-Devils
I've tried not to be too cheesy but it's not easy with Halloween songs! I hope Evanescence and AC/DC redeem the cheese factor a bit!
What are your favourite songs for Halloween? Let me know in the comments :)

Easy To Make Halloween Cocktails
I love a good excuse for cocktails! Halloween is the time you can go a bit mad with them! Here are a few of my favourite jugs, single serve cocktails and shooters for Halloween! Sorry there are no pictures of the actual drinks!
Jugs
Each jug makes approx. 1L (warning: these are pretty strong!)
1. Red Devil
175ml medium dry white wine
50ml Malibu
50ml Peach Schnapps
1 bottle of Old Mout Pomegranate and Strawberry cider
150ml lemonade (you can add more or less of this depending on how strong you want the drink to be!)
Mix all of the drinks together and use red berries (strawberries, raspberries, red currants etc) to decorate.
2. Green Goblin
50ml Blue Curacao
50ml Goldschlager
3 bottles of blue WKD
250ml fresh orange juice
50ml tonic water
Mix all of the drinks together, and add slices of green apple. Decorate with kiwi slices.
Single serve cocktails
1. Swamp water
50ml blackcurrant flavour Sourz
25ml vodka
1 can Red Bull (or other energy drink)
Coloured sherbert
Mix the vodka and Sourz. Very slightly dampen the rim of the glass you wish to serve the drink in and firmly press it into the sherbert. Carefully pour in the vodka and Sourz mix and top up with half a can of Red Bull
2. Black Heart
100ml cranberry juice
25ml Cointreau
50ml Black vodka
Pour the Cointreau and cranberry juice into your serving glass. Pour the black vodka into a smaller glass. Take a spoon and hold it against the side of your serving glass upside down. Very slowly and carefully pour the black vodka down the side of the glass and onto the spoon. If you do this correctly, the black vodka will float.
Shooters
1. Brain Haemorrhage
25ml cherry Sourz
10ml Baileys
Pour the Sourz into a 35ml shot glass. Fill a separate shot glass with Baileys. Place a straw straight up in the Baileys making sure it's not pressed to the bottom of the glass. Place your thumb over the top, and keeping the thumb in place, lift the straw out. Still with your thumb on the straw, place the other end into the centre of your Sourz. Slowly life your thumb until the Baileys starts to trickle out and form a ball in the centre. Make a ball roughly the size of a Malteaser.
2. Satan's Piss
This one is not for the faint hearted!
15ml Jagermeister
10ml chilli vodka
Tabasco sauce
Mix the Jagermeister and chilli vodka in a shot glass. Add a tiny splash of Tabasco sauce!
Happy Cocktailing!

Fun And Simple Halloween Party Games
I thought I would share a few Halloween games for you to play at your party, or just for a bit of family fun with the kids.
We used to play these at our Halloween party at the pub, with a few tipsy adults playing, they can be a lot of fun!
You will need:
1 chocolate bar for each contestant
Someone to hold each bar up
Someone to time and judge the game
How to play:
Get each person who is to hold the chocolate to hold the bar up in the air (make sure to unwrap it first).
Each contestant must place their hands behind their back.
The aim is to eat as much as you can in two minutes. The winner is the one who eats the most of their bar.
The catch is no teeth allowed. Each contestant must only suck their chocolate bars. Any biting or using their hands will result in being disqualified!
This game is more suited to adults and older children as it could be a bit dangerous for young children.
You will need:
3 loo rolls per team
Someone to judge the game
How to play:
Contestants will get into teams of 4.
They must nominate one person to become their mummy.
They then have to wrap their mummy up in toilet paper, to mummify them!
The winner is the first team with a fully wrapped mummy.
You will need per person:
1 bucket
2L of cheap coke
4 tins semolina
4 tins custard
4 tins baked beans
50 plastic bugs (you can find these in the pound shop)
Plus one person to time it and count up at the end
How to play:
Mix all the ingredients together in the bucket. It will look and smell gross but that's sort of the point!
Contestants have one minute to fish out as many bugs as they can find. Put an old towel or sheet down as it will get messy.
The winner is the one with the most bugs at the end of the minute, or the first to get all 50 before the minute is up.
Sorry there is no picture of this one, but I don't have half the ingredients to hand!
You will need:
1 bingo card per person
A bingo caller
Something to draw the numbers out of
How to play:
Each contestant gets one bingo card.
Everyone stands up.
The first number you get, you sit down.
Last one standing wins.
You will need:
A quiz
Someone to read out the questions and mark the answers
Pens and paper (one per pair)
Glass jar full of smarties or something similar
How to play:
Get into pairs and answer the questions. One with the most points wins!
In the case of a tie break, ask the teams to guess how many sweets are in the jar. Closest guess wins.
You could write your own quiz and have a bit of fun putting it together. If you want one that's pre done, I have wrote one for you here,
You can either play just for fun, or you could give little prizes away to the winners.
What games do you play on Halloween? Let me know in the comments :)

Super Easy To Make Halloween Ghosts
Decorations are a major part of any Halloween party. You can pick up lots of bargains at local pound shops, Home Bargains, BM, Asda and Wilkinsons, especially if you buy them after Halloween for next year.
But nothing quite beats the home made ones - they are unique and often a fun way of getting children involved with the decorating process.
These little ghosts are so super easy to make and cheap to make too!
If you aren't having a party, why not use these to decorate your porch, and when you get trick or treaters, hand them out!

| This is what you will need |
All you need is:
* One wrapped, spherical lollipop per ghost
* One paper tissue per ghost
* Sticky tape (optional)
* A spool of white cotton
* Felt tipped pens in whichever colour(s) you choose
1. Decide how low you want them to hang and measure out the cotton to that length. I like to do all different lengths so it doesn't look too symmetrical.

| Finished result! |
3. Put the ends of the cotton together and lay flat so you have a doubled up length of cotton with a loop at one end.
4. Holding the lollipop upright, place the centre of the tissue on the top of it, and gather it in tight underneath the sweet part.
5. Put the loop end of the cotton against where you have pulled the tissue in and thread the length through the loop.
6. Pull tight, and wrap it around 4 times, pulling the length through the last wrap and pulling tight.
7. Draw a face on the head using felt tip pen - Experiment with colours and expressions! I have gone for a voodoo doll type on this one, but you can really go nuts here!
8. If you want the ghosts to hang vertically (like in the photo), attach the cotton to the back of the head with a tiny piece of sticky tape. You can skip this step if you want them to look lie they are flying!
9. All done! Simply hang them in place with the length of cotton!

3 Halloween Make Up Ideas
For all dressing up for Halloween is one of the main things I enjoy about it, I usually end up doing the same costume every year. It's simple and easy and virtually free!
I go goth - back dress, black tights, dog collar for my neck (an actual collar for dogs, not a vicar collar!), cat collar for my wrists, pale face with lots of black eyeliner, black lipstick (which is actually liquid eyeliner set with a bit of black shadow, it lasts all night with no need for touch ups even when drinking) and black nail varnish. I even dye my hair black for the night! The only cost was the first time I did it, I had to buy a dog and cat collar.
You could also add a witches hat or vampire teeth!
This year, I have been watching a lot of YouTube Halloween make up tutorials for something a bit different. As it turns out, I won't be dressing up this year because where I work aren't doing a party this year - a pub not doing a Halloween party! Don't even get me started on that one!
However, I thought I would still share my three favourite - they are a lot easier than you would imagine when you watch the tutorials! Enjoy :)

5 Steps To Throwing The Perfect Halloween Party!
Throwing a Halloween party can seem a little daunting the first time, there's a lot to think about. It can be really fun though if you just relax and enjoy it! Make a list of everything you need to buy and another of everything you need to do.
You can now stop trying to think of everything, and hopefully this should leave you pretty calm.
The main elements to consider are:
1. Your costume!
Choose what you want to come as, and make sure you have all the bits and bobs you will need. If it involves particularly tricky make-up, have a practice run before the day.
2. Food and drinks
Decide on which food you would like to serve. A finger buffet is by far the easiest to do and you can have it all prepared before the party so you don't spend half the night cooking! Once you know how many are people are coming, you can work out quantities.
3. Decorations
This is such a fun one. Go as mad as your budget allows! If you don't have a huge budget, improvise and make some things yourself. I have a post coming up Thursday on some fab little home made ghosts that are really cheap and easy to make!
4. Games/entertainment
Decide what sort of party games you want to play. I will be sharing some inspiration Thursday through Saturday!
5. Playlist
It's not a Halloween party without a spooktacular (sorry, couldn't resist!) playlist!
If you get these right, your party will be a huge success!
When broken down, all the elements are pretty simple to do so take them one at a time. Stay tuned over the next few days as each day I will be adding some top tips for each category.
One other thing to take into account is your guest list. This one is pretty simple - invite the people you like!

Origins Of Halloween
Halloween is all about dressing up in fun costumes, decorating, having parties and some trick or treating for the little ones right?Yes and no.
This is indeed how we celebrate the modern day Halloween.
But actually, that's not what Halloween is about.
Halloween is actually the Pagan Sabbat of Samhain, a festival to celebrate the life of fallen ancestors. It is the day when Pagans believe the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest, and the hope was that their ancestors would appear to them to share their wisdom.
November 1st is also traditionally the Pagan new year, so October 31st would have been new year's eve.
As Catholicism became more popular through the country, the Catholic church decided Samhain was another Pagan Sabbat that needed to be replaced with something of their own (along the lines of Christmas and Easter) the reasoning being it would be easier to convert Pagans if rather than remove their sacred days, they just amended them.
So, All Saints Day came to pass, to be celebrated on November 1st. From what I understand of this, it is a day to honour all the saints who aren't special enough to have their own days.
The mass which was said was the All Hallow Mass, so in effect, October 31st became known as All Hallows Eve, which in turn was shortened to Halloween.
It is said that the Catholics, worried they had offended the dead, would dress up in grotesque costumes on Samhain in the hope it would scare away the dead. I have no idea if this part is true or not, but it would certainly explain the tradition of dressing up as something scary!
Over the years, the traditional celebration has morphed into the one we know today.
I love Halloween, and I like knowing that it has kept its Pagan roots more truly than the other holidays we celebrate today. Although most of the traditional Christian holidays still have elements of the original meaning, Halloween seems to be the one that remains closest to its origins.
Come back tomorrow (and every day this month) for more traditional Halloween posts!
What do you think? Do you think Halloween has stayed true to its roots or is too commercialised? Let me know in the comments :)

Mini Theme Reveal: Halloween!
I love Halloween. There was no way I could let it pass without posting about it. The plan at the start of the month was to write one little post about it, but of course the best laid plans and all that!As I sat pondering what exactly I would write about for my post, I realised that I was either going to have to cut a lot (and I mean a LOT) out, or the post would be so long no one would want to read it.
Then the third option hit me. A Halloween mini theme! It will run along side my current theme of the online world, and I don't even care that they in no way match or compliment each other!
It means double posting again everyday, but I did say last time that I would be trying it again at some point in the future. I felt a bit stressed last time because my grandmother was in hospital at the same time, so obviously I was spending a lot of time there. Well, she's still in, yet here I am doing it again. I obviously don't learn, but it's not like I can do Halloween posts later on in the year!
So look out for a Halloween themed post every day between now and the 31st. I hope you enjoy them :)
