Pinterest Review

Pinterest ReviewPinterest is another social network I have only joined recently. Well actually, I tell a lie. I joined ages ago, I just didn't actually use it. I didn't follow anyone and I didn't pin a single thing.
When I decided to start actively using Pinterest, I just changed my name on that profile to my blog's name.
I've read a few posts about how to use Pinterest for your blog, so in I went, armed with actual knowledge.
And it all went straight out of the window! I do pin my blog posts, but I decided pretty much straight away that for me, Pinterest was going to just be fun! No strategy, no scheduled pins, no ratio rules and no algorithms!
I know this means my pins won't be seen by hundreds of people. I know Pinterest is a fantastic, and often under used, blogging tool. I know it has a longevity that other social network sites can't even touch. And you know what? I don't care!
Pinterest is my happy place. I do have a board for my blog posts. I also have one for shoes and one for food and drink, but my blog is about neither. I want to just happily pin away whatever takes my fancy, and if somewhere along the line it generates some blog traffic (which it does!) that's a bonus.

Things I like:

1. Everything! It's quick to set up, super easy to use and really fun!
2. Coming across some fabulous articles and ideas I otherwise never would have found

Things I dislike:

The only thing I dislike is finding a pin that leads to a super interesting sounding post, clicking it and the post is nothing at all relevant to the pin. Either write the super interesting post you advertised, or pin something relevant to the actual post!

Top tips for bloggers:

There are far too many to go into here. Check back Friday for a full post on using Pinterest to promote your blog!

Love it or hate it?

For both blogging and personal use, I absolutely love it. There is something on there for everyone, on every topic imaginable, and some I would never even have imagined.

  1. I'm the same. I actually only use pinterest very occasionally as I just forget it's there. I did try using it to promote my blog I don't really have a clue what I'm doing. I don't even know how to add a a pinterest plugin to my WordPress blog lol so I gave up and now just use pinterest when the mood takes me.

    1. I can spend far too long on there so I try to limit my time spent on it! I use SumoMe for all my share buttons, I'm pretty sure it works on WordPress too :)

  2. I just don't get Pinterest. It all just swirls around and loses me. I love ripping things I like out of magazines so I reckon if I get my head round it. I'll love it.

  4. Ah I'll be really interested to see your Friday post. I have an account but I don't use it enough at all! Need to know more! I've heard very addictive. Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst and see you soon xx

  5. I find it frustrating too when you click on an interesting pin and find that it was misleading. I don't think I use Pinterest very effectively from a blogging point of view but I do love it for keeping track of things that I've read and found interesting, and craft ideas.

    1. Same here, I use it more as a personal account really, but with my blog posts added!

  6. I joined Pinterest years back and then never used it. After reading how good Pinterest can be to promote a blog I gave it another go. Alas I don't really get how it can be used successfully to promote blogs (I know other people manage, but I can't get my head round it no matter how many posts on the subject I read).

I do turn to Pinterest for recipes and things like that, and usually end up kicking myself as time just flies when I'm on there.

    1. I love Pinterest :) It is very different to other sites when it comes to promotion though. I wrote this post about how to use it for promotion that might help you http://myrandommusings.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/how-to-use-pinterest-to-promote-your.html
Time sure does fly on there! :)

  7. Pinterest is a weird one where it always makes me love it and want to pin everything and make everything than on the other hand it makes me feel not good enough for all these creative amazing people creating so many things how do they do it all the time? hahaah Great post. Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me. I hope to see you again this week for another great round of #sharewithme

    1. Yes, it is a weird one isn't it. I'm the same, I love looking at everything but the thought of pinning my unrecognisable balls of sellotape (that would be my crafts lol) fills me with cold horror! Thank you and thanks for hosting, I'll be over later on today :)
