The Versatile Blogger Award

Versatile Blogger Award badge

Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to the lovely Susan over at the Abigail Day By Day blog, which you can check out here: http://www.abigaildaybyday.blogspot.ca/

To accept the award, I have to:
1. Thank the person who nominated me (this goes without saying, how rude would it be to not thank someone who nominates you for an award!).
2. List 7 random facts about me.
3. Nominate 5 other bloggers for the award.

Seven facts about me:
1. This blog was never meant to run for more than about a week. If you want to know why, have a look at this post: http://myrandommusings.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/why-i-started-blogging.html
2. My favourite fruit at the minute is strawberries
3. I like the feeling of having lots to do so I don't get bored, but I love the feeling of completing my day's to do list as well
4. I once broke my littlest toe
5. I love Microsoft Excel a little too much. I love my planners, and feel lost without them, but if I want to do something different I do! I think I like the safety net of a back up plan!
6. I hate the texture of broccoli - it feels like moss in your mouth!
7. I have a massive thing for shoes and regularly buy shoes I know I won't be able to walk in but still can't resist!

My nominations
I now nominate the following five blogs to receive the Versatile Bloggers Award:
2. Domesticated Momster http://domesticatedmomster.com/
3. Rambles, Rants and Writings http://ramblesrantswritings.blogspot.co.uk/
4. My Kid Doesn't Poop Rainbows http://pooprainbows.com/

I would like to finish up by saying thanks again to Susan for the nomination. I look forward to reading the 7 facts about the bloggers I have nominated!

The One Lovely Blog Award Part 2

I am truly honoured to receive a second nomination for the One Lovely Blog Award, this time from the fab Claire over at the Mudpie Fridays blog. Check her blog out here: http://mudpiefridays.com/. Thank you so much Claire!
As this my second time, I am going to break the rules slightly (see that, I've played once, now I think it's my game!) and not nominate anyone, because I've already done that part - see here for nominations and the first 7 facts about me: http://myrandommusings.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/the-one-lovely-blog-award.html
Which leads me on to 7 more facts about me:
1. I prefer dogs to cats
2. As long as I'm not on my way anywhere, I love being outside in heavy rain - the kind that comes straight down and bounces off the pavements!
3. I adore Benidorm (and yes, I know it's cheesy and I know it's not the "real" Spain) and could happily move there
4. I would love to do a bungee jump or a sky dive
5. The human mind fascinates and horrifies me in somewhat equal measures
6. I honestly believe that anyone who still thinks there is no such thing as a stupid question has never worked in retail, hospitality, or customer services!
7. I have been described as a bit of cynic, but I prefer to see myself as a realist - the cloud doesn't always have a silver lining, but sometimes it's still shaped like an angel!

Thanks again to Claire for the nomination!

The One Lovely Blog Award

Yesterday, I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog award. I was so pleased and excited. It really means a lot when a fellow blogger recognises your blog. On that note, I would like to start by saying a big thank you to the lovely Katie from Growing Up Katertot - check out her blog here: http://growingupkatertot.weebly.com/. A lovely blog, full of inspirational posts and beautiful photographs!

As part of accepting the award, I have to write 7 random facts about me. Here goes:

1. I find it incredibly difficult to compile "facts about me lists".
2. I colour my hair way too often because I get bored of the colour quickly
3. Whilst I love other people's children, I have no plans to have any of my own
4. I would love to hop on a plane and travel the world - if anyone would like to pay for this trip in return for me blogging about it, just say the word! :)
5. One of my favourite sayings is "worse things happen at sea" I have no idea where I first heard this phrase, but it certainly fits most situations! I do get some funny looks sometimes when I use it though!
6. I am trying to use more images in my blog posts. I find this quite hard as I am definitely more wordy than arty.
7. I can't wait for the new season of Orange is the New Black - a year between seasons is too long!

I now nominate the following for the One Lovely Blog award!

http://www.thesingleswan.com/
http://domesticatedmomster.com/
http://www.daysinbed.com/
http://abigaildaybyday.blogspot.ca
http://ramblesrantswritings.blogspot.co.uk/

http://apparentlyawkward.blogspot.co.uk
http://pooprainbows.com
http://faebooks.co.uk
http://minitravellers.co.uk
http://helloanna.co.uk
Check some of these out, all well worth a look!

To accept the award, you simply have to do the following:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
2. Add the One Lovely Blog badge to your post.
3. Share seven facts about yourself.
4. Nominate about 15 bloggers you admire by posting a comment on their blog.

I nominated 11, and plan on nominating them through Twitter - rules are there to be broken :)

Thanks again to Katie!

M Is For My A To Z Of Me!

Day 13 of my A to Z Challenge. M is for My A To Z Of Me!.

If you don't know how this works, I've posted the link back to the rules of the challenge at the end of this, along with a link to yesterday's post. If you want to read my full alphabet, just keep following the links. Each day has a link back to yesterday's post.

Today I thought I would share some random facts about me with you all. I hope you enjoy them!

A – I love American culture and would love to one day live in Manhattan, New York.
B – One of my guilty pleasures is playing online bingo although I don’t play anywhere near as much as I used to.
C – I once considered starting a catering firm but decided against it due to the sheer amount of legal hoops I would need to jump through!
D – I hate going to the dentist although I’m not quite sure why. I do love that just polished feeling though.
E – One thing I cannot stand is eggs (unless of course they are chocolate eggs!). The look of them, the smell of them, everything about them makes me want to bork.
F – My friends are so important to me. You can never over rate friendship! I have several friends who I would do literally anything for (they know who they are).
G – I find gardening strangely therapeutic. I tend to put off doing it, then once I start, I love it!
H – One of the charities I will always support is Help for Heroes. I think it’s an absolute disgrace that our government are happy to send the armed forces off to risk their lives, but refuse to give them the support they need upon their return!
I – When I was 18, I visited Rome. I loved it and would love one day to spend some time touring Italy.
J – I love joking around and having a laugh with friends. Not everyone “gets” my humour, because I am quite sarcastic, but my friends do and most of them are equally sarcastic. I usually find people who describe sarcasm as the lowest form of wit are those who don’t really get it!
K – I love Harry Enfield’s Kevin The Teenager character. Obviously it’s exaggerated, but looking back I think we can all see a bit of Kevin in our teenage selves.
L – I find love to be a strange and fascinating emotion. Some days I think it’s the greatest thing in the world, and other days, I can’t help but wonder if it’s a nice lie we tell ourselves to explain hormones and chemical reactions!
M – I hate the word moist (I did warn you these facts were random!). It always makes me think of something kind of sticky and grubby.
N – I’m definitely a night owl, and often write my blog posts at daft o’clock in the morning.
O – I literally can’t wait for the new season of Orange is the New Black. I love it and a year between seasons is too long. It's just cruel!
P – A lot of the things I cook end up being something with pasta. I’m not sure why this always seems to happen. Maybe I’m Italian at heart?
Q – I am one of those people who ask a ton of questions. If you tell me something, I figure you want me to know about it, so I feel ok asking for details. I’m not offended if people tell me to mind my own business though!
R – I think that people who define being rich as having a lot of money are looking in the wrong place. Unless of course money genuinely does make them happy, then they’ve got it nailed.
S – I’m a sun worshipper. I know it’s bad for me and I shouldn’t sit in it, but nothing beats the feeling of lying on a beach in the sun. I’m not into sun beds though – they seem pointless for me because no matter what I do I don’t actually tan, I just go pink and then back to glow in the dark white.
T – If talking was an Olympic sport it’s been suggested that I would win a gold medal! I can’t even be offended by this because I do talk a lot. Probably far too much.
U – I’m one of those people who always carries an umbrella in their handbags – except of course for the day it actually rains!
V – I think young people worry way too much these days about losing their virginity – the first time is seriously over rated!
W – In a strange twist of fate, I hate winter but love Halloween, Christmas and snow!
X – I love the X Factor. If nothing else it makes for great debate on social media! More on this on "X" day.
Y – I am addicted to Yankee Candles. They all smell so good!
Z – One of my all time favourite groups is Led Zeppelin.
