3 Reasons You Should Join Linkys!

For anyone who doesn't know, a linky (also known as a blog hop) is as follows:
One or more bloggers act as host, and publish a post with a little widget that allows other bloggers to link their posts. The posts are then visible to everyone who views the original post.
I love a good linky so today I thought I would share 3 reasons why you should join linkys!

                             Exposure to new readers
Whether you're a brand new blogger or have been blogging for years, I think we can all agree that boosting our readership is always an ongoing goal. Joining a linky is a fantastic way to put your work in front of a new audience of potential readers. Linkys bring in lots of other bloggers who are linking up, plus you have the regular readers of the host's blog. Use a catchy title for your post and more people will choose to read it.

Boost your post's comments
Most hosts ask that people linking their posts comment on some of the other posts linked up. A lot specify the post directly before yours, so you are guaranteed a comment this way, but I would be surprised if you don't get more than one. Also, generally the host(s) comment on the posts that are linked up too. I find when commenting, if I use the # in the comments, a lot of the bloggers visit back and leave a comment on your post too.

Find new blogs to read
As well as directing traffic to your post, a linky is a great place to find new blogs that you may otherwise not have come across. It's such a great feeling when you read a post and just know that you are going to love that blog! Of the blogs I read regularly, I would estimate I found 70% of them through linkys!

If you are new to linkys and unsure of how they work, check out this brilliant post from Cuddle Fairy which gives step by step instructions on how to link up.

I run a linky every week starting Monday and running through until the following Sunday. All post types are welcome. For all the details and the current week's linky, have a look here. I would love to see you linking up! Following on from that shameless plug, have a look here for a list of some of the linkys ran by other bloggers I regularly join.

Fancy running your own linky? My top tips for running a successful linky will be coming up later in the month!

Do you love linkys? Are there any more fab reasons to join in that I haven't included here? Let me know in the comments :)

  5. Awesome post. Did you ever read my post about what goes on from behind Linky's? You might find it useful when writing up about how to do linkys. Also when you've done it let me know, I think it would be greatly added to my tips and helps linky.

    1. Thank you :) I did read your post - its weird because I found it around the time I was thinking of starting my own linky, and it helped me a lot in realising how much time I would need to set aside for it. I'll tweet you when it's done, and will add it to next month's linky :)

  6. I like Linkies too, though some things don't always go down well with me, about them. They are definitely good for getting the word out about your presence in the blogosphere and of course LINKING with other bloggers :-)

http://adventuresofanovicemum.co.uk/blog-linkys-top-bottom-5/ is a post I wrote about my top / bottom 5 about them. Hope you don't mind me sharing, but please don't feel you have to read them.

    1. I don't mind you sharing at all, and I did choose to read the post. I agree with your points, sometimes it is frustrating, although I do still believe the benefits outweigh the negatives :)
